Partnership Spotlight: Leyton Orient Football Club

Bringing stability to club overheads through intelligent energy contract negotiation

Leyton Orient currently play in EFL League Two at the Breyer Group Stadium. With a capacity of nearly 10,000 across four stands ranging significantly in age, the club wanted an energy partner able to understand their specific requirements and provide them with a competitive and reliable deal on their energy contracts.

Here’s how the Consultiv Utilities team leveraged our extensive relationship with suppliers to support the O’s as their official Energy Partner and sponsor.

A partnership that promotes success and sustainability

Here at Consultiv, we’re passionate about finding deals that suit the needs of businesses and organisations across a range of sectors and industries. Our partnership agreement with Leyton Orient is designed to tackle both the cost and consumption of energy across The Breyer Group Stadium, as well as helping the club achieve a more sustainable supply as it looks to meet its environmental responsibilities.

So how does this work in practice?

Over the course of our 3-year agreement, we have provided significant savings. To do this, we provide a number of important services, including

  • Bill validation
  • Consumption analysis and onsite energy audit
  • Energy procurement
  • Metering and siteworks

By securing a long-term fixed contract across gas and electricity supply, we have also been able to provide the club with stability in their overheads, protecting them from many of the fluctuations in price that can cause problems for sporting organisations and events venues.

InIn addition to the challenges of energy procurement, the nature of the Breyer Group Stadium – stands range in age from 1950s construction to 2008 – and the fact that it is used sporadically throughout the week makes energy contracts and energy management significantly more complex. However, thanks to the onsite energy audit completed in 2020, we were able to highlight potential savings in excess of £20,000 per annum and carbon emission reductions equating to approximately 28t CO2 a year.

On the establishment of the partnership, Leyton Orient’s Head of Commercial, Josh Stephens, said:

“The club’s energy bills have been reduced substantially whilst we are currently designing an education programme for staff with regards to ways in which we can all play our part in saving energy.

“Not only will this reduce the club’s energy cost but we are playing our part in reducing our carbon footprint. I can’t recommend Consultiv Utilities highly enough, and if you are looking to reduce overheads during these challenging times, please do reach out to Liam for an initial discovery chat.”
