Save up to 40% against your current deal with Consultiv Utilities

Accepting payments is a simple process when the only form of payment is cash. Things start to get a little more complicated when you add additional payment methods into the equation, like cheques or credit cards.

Card payments and online transfers have overtaken cash in almost all aspects of daily life now. In fact, 80% of all retail customers pay with their credit or debit cards, and chances are, if you do not accept credit card payments, customers will go to a competitor who does.

The acceptance of major card payments is a key factor in the satisfaction of your customers and, as such, in the success of your business. But, in the world of credit card processing, one size does not fit all.

Merchant services tailored to your needs

At Consultiv Utilities we understand that businesses operate in different ways, and this affects the kind of merchant account you will have. We look to provide a flexible and convenient merchant account that helps to keep your rates to a minimum and protect against fraud and chargebacks.

There are several different kinds of credit cards issued by Visa and Mastercard, and the differences between them may affect the rates you are charged, and how responsible you are for processing them.

At Consultiv Utilities, we take the stress out of a merchant account, simplifying a confusing process and making it easy for you to accept card payments safely, and understand your bill.

FAQs

What are the different ways I can take cards?

Card processing is highly versatile these days and it is possible to accept card payments in-store, online, over the phone and on the move.

Chip and PIN machines are used by millions of businesses around the world to process card payments in-store, with most retailers and restaurants installing these easy-to-use terminals next to their tills or cash registers. Another popular type of card machine is the portable terminal. This features Bluetooth or wireless technology which allows the unit to be used anywhere on your business premises. Mobile terminals, meanwhile, are perfect for businesses that need to take payments on the move. Thanks to cutting-edge GPRS technology, they are able to process transactions immediately from anywhere in the UK that has good phone coverage.

How long will it take to switch?

On average the whole process should take no more than a week. If your business is in a more unique industry, then it can take up to two weeks.

What is/are deemed pricing/deemed rates?

When you move to a new site, the existing supplier may put you on a ‘deemed’ rate, because a contract is deemed to exist and so this will be treated as an existing contract between you and the supplier.

The issue with this is that deemed rates are usually much higher than the rate you get in an arranged contract as the energy is bought short term.

We are here to help, get in touch by phone or through our website and we will discuss the options available.

What is Barclay’s involvement in our company?

They are our partner for the processing element of the service.

Why take card payments?

There are a wide range of reasons as to why independent businesses must embrace card payment terminals. Quite simply, the move could help to ensure that you broaden your customer base, attracting a new audience by simplifying the transaction process. And by welcoming card payments, you can help to boost impulse buying, thereby ensuring that consumers spend more money, more often.

What’s more, owing to the fact that card terminals mean less cash and cheques to deposit, you’re likely to incur fewer bank fees. And if you’re worried about security, then you needn’t be. Once the necessary infrastructure is in place, you can receive authorisation that funds from card transactions are being sent directly to your bank account.

What costs are involved?

There are two types of costs involved with using a merchant account. Firstly, there will be a charge for the rental of the card payment machine which will be fully inclusive of any costs relating to the support and maintenance of the equipment. Secondly, you will be required to pay transaction charges relating to the actual card transactions processed on the terminal (or via your website). These charges will depend both on the type of card processed and the nature of business which you are running.

Rest assured that in relation to the above charges, our team will work with you to select the most appropriate and cost-effective solution for your needs.

What is the transaction speed of your terminals?

Within 30 seconds.

How long will it take for me to get my terminal working?

Your terminal will arrive configured and able to use immediately.

How many users can I have on one virtual terminal?

There is no restriction to number of users.

Will my statements come from Barclays?

Yes they will.

How do I get paid?

The funds relating to transactions processed will be batched on a daily basis and will be settled directly into your business bank account within two to three working days after the transaction is processed.
